Book Projects
Two works in progress — one rooted in history, one in myth.
1600 Broadway
One Flew Over the Cuckoo's Nest meets Stand By Me meets Alice in Wonderland.
A fictional account of a true event — the first closing of The University Center, a treatment facility for troubled adolescents, in 1974. Gritty, tender, and surreal, it is a story about what happens when the institution meant to save you becomes the thing you must escape. Told through the eyes of a boy who arrived believing he was broken and left knowing the world was.
The building had a name before it had a reputation. By the time I arrived, the name was the reputation. You said '1600 Broadway' and people looked away — not from shame, exactly, but from the particular discomfort of knowing something exists that you'd rather not think about.
The Last Magic
The curse of the unicorn. The fate of Atlantis. The last magic in our world.
A fairy tale for those who have stopped believing in them. It follows the people of Atlantis — their beauty, their hubris, and the ancient curse that unravels everything — and asks what remains when a world loses its wonder. At its center is a unicorn who has watched civilizations rise and fall, and a girl who is the last person alive who can still see it.
The unicorn had not been seen in four hundred years. This was not because it had gone anywhere. It was because no one had looked — not truly looked, with the part of themselves that still believed the world could hold something they didn't understand.
